We are extremely happy, excited, and proud to share this news: the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs, and Agenda 2030 has once again placed its trust in our work and has funded our project “Mediterranean eco-social forest restoration” with €248,798 and a score of 95 out of 100.
This recognition means a lot to us. Not only because of the amount of resources it will allow us to continue working, but also because it is the third consecutive year that the Ministry has supported the Semillistas Association, reaching a total of nearly half a million euros dedicated to restoring life, ecosystems, and community in the Mediterranean forest.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the funder, to all those who participate, support, or simply accompany our work in some way, and to all the entities and groups that are part of this ecosystem that grows and flourishes every day: Plataforma Plantando Semillas Guájares y Valle de Lecrín, ARBA Elx, WWF Málaga, Bosques de Agua, Ayuntamiento de Órgiva, Ayuntamiento de Los Guájares, Rainforest Rising, Sociedad Canaria de Agricultura Natural, Bosques de Cantabria, Pego Viu, Sierra Preta and many more.
The project aims to consolidate a comprehensive methodology for eco-social forest restoration based on the direct sowing of laboratory-improved seeds, combining science, popular knowledge, and community action. It is not just about planting trees, but about regenerating relationships, health, and hope.
We work on five main areas:
- Adaptation to climate change by restoring degraded ecosystems.
- Reversing rural depopulation by generating employment and community fabric.
- Promoting individual and collective physical and mental health.
- Transferring knowledge and innovative methodologies in forest restoration.
- Creating free scientific knowledge about Mediterranean forest species.
Our activities are mainly carried out in the Alpujarra region of Granada, where we have already involved hundreds of volunteers, young people from the European Solidarity Corps, and local organizations. We also bring our methodology to other entities in the country so that they can replicate it in their own territories and ecosystems.
This new impetus allows us to continue demonstrating that the restoration of the Mediterranean forest is also the restoration of human and community ties. We will continue to sow, care for, and share knowledge to regenerate the land and our ways of inhabiting it together.
Thank you for joining us.
