On Saturday, 4 October, we had the pleasure of holding a new workshop on the direct sowing of acorns, aimed at organisations and individuals interested in improving their reforestation practices with species of the Quercus genus. The meeting took place in the Armilla community urban garden, managed by Urban Green Club, and was attended by eleven people of different ages and backgrounds.
During the day, we worked based on the experiences of those who are already carrying out reforestation actions, both from organisations and individually. We based the workshop on the Manual of Good Practices for Quercus Restoration Projects in Mediterranean Environments, developed by Semillistas two years ago, reviewing the most important aspects of its methodology and resolving doubts and difficulties encountered in the field.
The meeting combined presentations with participatory activities, where we were able to share both the successes and challenges that each group has faced in their projects. It was very enriching to hear from people with extensive experience working with Quercus and, at the same time, from young people with fresh ideas and new perspectives.
We would like to thank the Armilla Town Council for providing the venue, Urban Green Club for their support in managing and preparing the venue, and all the people who participated and contributed their enthusiasm.
